CLAIRE & IDA

Our training differs; our methods overlap. That expands your field of view.

We work as a pair—radical by design, deliberate in practice.

Together, we bring an eye for what is emerging and the judgment to distinguish novelty from relevance. We know when to follow a method, when to adapt it, and when to leave it behind.

We do the skunkwork with you—close to the context, close to the question, and close to what needs to change.

Two perspectives; one grounded practice

Nighttime street scene with smiling man wearing a green cap and white hoodie, several people in the background, and neon signs for 'Blues Bar' and other establishments.
A woman with long hair, dressed in white, is lying on a tan armchair, reading a magazine, with her legs resting on a sideboard. She is wearing brown socks. The room has books on shelves, a potted plant, and various decorative items.
A woman with short curly dark hair and light skin is standing outdoors on a city street, wearing a blue dress, looking directly at the camera with a serious expression. Blurred pedestrians and vehicles are visible in the background.

Claire is a designer-researcher who holds a PhD in Service Design from the Oslo School of Architecture and Design (AHO) (2021) and an MA in Industrial Design from the same institution. Her deep expertise is service design, design-driven innovation, and ecosystem design.

As an Associate Professor at AHO, she continues to investigate how cultural, emotional, and meaning-making aspects interact with technological, systemic, and generative factors. These explorations and passions continue to inform her ongoing research and her engagement with students.

Claire is not your typical academic. She founded Prefall, a consumer-to-consumer (C2C) fashion resale marketplace. With over 20 years of industry leadership experience combined with academic insights, she effectively merges research-based knowledge with practical execution.

Through her design and research projects, she explores how popular cultural phenomena can be transformed into services that embody contemporary values. She investigates how creative, experimental, and speculative design practices can drive change within organizations, institutions, and society as a whole. Recently, her experiments focus on designing for pause and reflection in an era dominated by acceleration.

Ida holds an MPhil from the University of Oslo (UiO), and her educational background spans pedagogy, history of ideas, and Media & Cultural Studies. She maintains a grounded approach, employing inductive methods to explore trends as they emerge.

Ida builds structures, curates, and spots trends where fields that don't usually communicate need to work together, using tools such as conferences, hackathons, incubators, and national programs to create change.

Over nine years, she co-founded and led Katapult Future Fest, an international technology and impact-investment platform of 700 participants, 40 partners, 60 countries, and a NOK 8m annual budget.

She has founded or co-founded and secured funding for several non-profit grassroots initiatives and organizations, including Music Oslo, Norway Makers, the music tech initiative MashUP initiatives, and Girl Tech Fest.

Ida writes about emerging technologies and socio-technical trends. In her more recent work, Human Before The Loop, she builds her own agents, blending art projects with research and personal exploration, and focuses on how AI is shaping our institutions and driving transformation in the socio-cultural landscapes.
